Does anyone know of any websites or tests on paper that can help a teacher or parent determine the learning styles and multiple intelligences of students? Amy
One of the schools in our district has used MI to determine studens of the month. MI recognizes non tradtionial strengths.

Okay, I hope I'm not looking like an ignorant person right now but this question is bugging me and I hope the professionals here can help me.
1. Does listening to a tape of a subject while you sleep help you retain and learn it better when you are awake?
2. Assuming that the answer to #1 is Yes - If one can stand to listen to two or more tapes simultaneoulsy while he or she sleeps, can the brain properly process the information so that it enhances the learning of the three subjects while the person is awake. Ex. Listen to a tape of Hamlet, a lesson on speaking in Spanish, and a tape on Calculus.
I have not done this yet, mainly because I only have one tape player right now.
Let me know your opinions and any web sites where I can find more information on this.
No. This is called Hypnopedia. It derives from the Greek Hypno+Pethi (sleep+learning).
There is absolutely no scientific evidence that this works. You need the whole brain, both the left and right to process information. Since the left side is predominantly 'off-line" the brain cannot process the information. The information simply does not "slip in" and embed itself into the long term memory. Most websites that provide hypnopedic audio programs will simply provide very dubious "scientific" findings. If you want to learn a language or other subject at an accelerated rate, you could always look at the field of suggestopedia ( a term coined by Prof. Georgi Lozanov in Budapest ). This is a field that has some interesting findings and some compelling proof as it has been used by the UN, WHO and some large Blue Chip companies. Enjoy your sleep,

i really want 2 learn danish cos im half danish and cos im 15 i was thinking it would sink in quite quick so i can finally talk 2 relatives but just wondering if it works
I have just started introducing music into my math classroom and would like any suggestions for CD's to use. I've noticed that some of the classical is too fast and energetic for the calming effect I'm hoping to achieve.
Please be careful about making or believing in any absolute pronouncements! It's not without reason that we have the old saw that says the only thing certain in life is death and taxes.
"Music in the classroom is a good thing!" will only be true IF!!!!
My advice: Try it, yes. If it works out well, great!
BUT! If it doesn't work out well, be flexible enough to give it up. Don't be rigid about it.

I live in Western Wisconsin only 20 minutes from Downtown St. Paul. I have 2 children that have 1 & 2 years of tutoring in Lindamood-Bell and need to continue. Looking for trained tutor.
