If you are looking to relocate and are looking for a full time Teacher Librarian position, there will be an opening in the fall of 2010, in Porter Creek Secondary, Whitehorse, Yukon...
We recently had new shelves installed and I had to move all the books. Then, the shelves came and they were wrong! So, I already had everything moved for the new shelves in August, which meant we started school without the new shelves. It was awful. Anyway, when possible I had the custodians move the entire book shelf with books on it out into the hallway. A few shelves were not stable enough to hold the books and be moved so I staked the books on carts from as many other friendly libraries as I could find. Then I labeled each cart with a large label like 551- 599. This helped to remind the kids that if they absolutely needed to look at something during this time that not to mess up the entire cart. I run three elementary libraries, so I was able to use carts from all three and the local library had three in the basement they weren't using. All I had to do was pick them up, they were happy to let me borrow them. I did have students help, but only ones I could trust. I also had two parents help me put the books on the new shelves.
I have a teacher retiring after 20 plus years of teaching and has volunteered to plan our end of the year STAR Day. She would like to have an Old Fashion School Day with activities, games, crafts, etc. Any ideas? Thanks!

Now, I want to get the book so I can read more about the beach trip and other stories contained within. What about this book did you find compelling? What were some of the reactions for the students?

I am sure that adding an AFS student to your schools would assist your students with learning a new culture and language. Naturally, encouraging them to go on an AFS exchange is even better. Contact [link removed].

Most books liked by the middle school kids are at a lower reading level.
