hi all, I'm a burnt-out law librarian in a private law firm looking to switch to Library Media Specialist. I have my MLS and worked in university libraries before becoming a law firm librarian. I do not have LMS certification yet, but I've gotten a letter from my state's Department of Education saying I'm able to be employed as an LMS as long as I create a plan with my employer (superintendent) to become fully certified.

Has anyone out there made this sort of switch before? Any suggestions on how to sell oneself and/or in the job search process? I have two young children, a great love of learning, and like to impart knowledge onto others.

Any advice is welcome. Thank you!
Librarian in AK My state does not currently require an education degree or regular teaching certificate to be a school library so I lucked out there. Teaching Librarian You probably have great research and citation skills which will help with middle school to high school students, but you may find more jobs available at the elementary level, where your interest in children's literature will be an asset.

Unseen Librarian Thanks, Librarian in AK. :) I have a BA in biology and the MLS, but stopped short of a JD. One can handle only so much debt, you know? I fell into law firm librarianship being in right place at right time. I hope that sort of luck is still with me, 10 years later.
