Just wondering what Library-Media people think: should the shhhh signs remain, or is it time to drop that tradition and allow busy chatter, etc.?

Melissa Josef I think that quiet in moderation should be the mode. Loud screaming noise, chatting on cell phones, laptops spitting out music, etc. doesn't work for others trying to get work done, but quiet collaboration and conversation is appropriate. Cybrary Man There should be some areas in a library where you can do reading, study or research without any interference. However, the library media center today should be a place for collaborative projects and making use of the wonderful Web2.0 tools that are now available.

Leah I agree with Cybrary Man.

I think some areas need to be quiet since many children have trouble concentrating, but collaboration is important too.
