Actually, the kid's best friend was secretly jealous and resentful of him, so he caused him to fall out of the tree, and a blood clot from the shattered leg traveled to his heart and killed him.
It's some kind of an allegory related to World War I.
There was a movie of the same name with Parker Stevenson as one of the two.
I want to assign my 9-12 students a "book trailer" or electronic book talk as a book report. I have seen examples online with criteria, etc. already established. I am having very little luck finding that info now. Has anyone done this before or know of a resource I can use to help us get started?
I am considering doing a one book, one school reading incentive but I can't think of too many options for books. The Tale of Desperaux is a fifth grade novel in my district so it has been read by our oldest class. I would love to have suggestions if anyone has a sure winner! My school is K-5!!
Does anyone know where I can find some free activities for a novel study of "The Contender". I am actually a Math teacher with one reading class. Don't really know where to find activities etc.
1-9-09 You can find activities at edhelper.com . I use this site often. Also, pinkmonkey.com bookrags.com these are a few that might be helpful on inexpensive.
I'm going to read Charlotte's Web aloud to my middle school ESL class. I'm looking for ideas to help make the book stick with them. I'd like to have them do some activity as we go along...a book of vocab, of pictures, etc. Any thoughts? I'll post on ESL board, too. Thank you! Jenny
