I'll look further but I'd also suggest reading/seeing Wicked - the modern follow up to the book/movie. It has a much better message than its predecessor.

This book is a great, short, historical fiction piece dealing with cowboys, cattle drives, and orphan trains. The author's web site has some really neat downloadable teaching materials, including puzzles, vocab. quizzes (the book has a glossary of authentic cowboy terms), and discussion questions.
The book by Betty Ren Wright the Dollhouse Murders has a movie called Secrets in the Attic. Its $42.00 on Amazon. Does anyone know how else to find a copy, or has anyone seen it on TV/Netflix etc? $42.00 is a bit much for me right now.
