Dr. Robert Rose, author of Abuses of Power in Education; Challenging Practically Everything (Outskirts Press, 2008), shares insight gained during his radio show dialogue with Dr.Howard Seeman, as they explored their belief in the importance of assertiveness in teachers.
"We are fairly accepting of the use of the word “rigor” as a positive term for high standards and accomplishments in lots of things, including education. As it turns out, “vigor” might be a much better choice."
Read in the very short piece linked below, why Todd Nelson finds "vigor" the more appropriate term.

I just finished reading Daniel Pink’s book "Drive" and walked away with many key thinking points to ponder and use as I continue to focus and refocus on my purpose and drive to be a better person and principal.

I would be happy to mentor you, if I can, Spring. What do you think you need help with? - Lis

During the last week of school there will be all kinds of jumping up and down, hooting and hollering, and the humming of happy tunes. And, that is coming from the teachers’ room!
During the last few weeks of school, teachers have golden opportunities to get the jump on the next school year. [Click below to read the rest, in the May issue of Teachers.Net Gazette!]
I hope that you are having an awesome weekend. I am writing because I have some concerns. Lately, I am feeling stuck and wonder if anyone could help me. I am currently employed as a Kindergarten Extension Instructor (aide). I do have a teaching certificate, however I am not able to obtain a regular teaching position because I am not considered to be highly qualified. I am in the process of studying for the AEPA test. I am a nervous about taking the test. I also have to have 180 hours of professional development before 2015. Hard to come by where I am and taking classes is something I cannot do financially at the moment because of some unforeseen medical expenses. Is there anyone who could offer to be my mentor for this year? I really would like to find someone that I can really turn to.
Thank you very much. I hope that you have a great week. :)

You need someone in your state who knows your state requirements. Trying posting on the state boards on this same website.
And what about your Principal? Or someone in your building? Are there ever openings in your building and does your Principal know you'd like to be considered for them?
I will try that avenue. I have tried three times applying for, interviewing and never getting the job(s) that were posted at my school. My principal is as well as other teachers well aware of my desire to get back into the classroom. For now, I will be putting all of my efforts into studying for three tests to help me become "highly qualified" once again.
