In the past, I used an incentive program for our word wall. Virtually if kids used one of our word wall words in context in an appropriate manner in class, the class got a point. On Fridays, the kids got a scrabble token for each point earned. All my class periods competed against each other and me, and the people with the highest scrabble score at the end of the 9-weeks, got a reward of some kind. Rewards were things like, I would develop a lesson that used music or put on music for a silent reading time or other things like that that were already things I was totally willing to do and that was geared toward education. The kids used the words in their writing a lot and they used the words in other classes. In the summer I had a kid try to facebook friend me. I denied the request, BUT in the message he sent me he used 10 different word wall words. It was really cool to see he had memorized those words so well.

Thing is, this year I'm pregnant. I know I'll be out on doctor app...See More
