My "middle" school has totally abandoned every facet of the middle school concept. This year, we have no interdisciplinary teams and run a high school type schedule, even for our 6th graders. I understand that some adjustments had to be made to appease the gods of NCLB and race to the top, but I just feel as though we lost so much when we ditched the teaming and have totally become a little high school. It's one of the reasons I am retiring at year's end. Education just isn't focused on the kids anymore....
razmum My current school has been like a mini high school since I started there 7 years ago. I miss teaming for a number of reasons, especially the fact that you could compare notes frequently with a student's other teachers and were more likely to catch onto issues and be able to create a uniform plan of action.
