My son is entering the second grade. Just found out he will be in a first and second grade combo class. Can anyone tell me the benefit for the second graders? It is clear and quite obvious the benefit the first graders will receive. Don't want to jump the gun, but how will new advanced material be taught to the second graders?
I'm seeking advice on how to design a Standards based 2-6 classroom. There are only about 12 students, but they are all at different levels, so far I'm thinking go with themes or strands, any advice out there. Websites, or resources etc..
Help. I've moved from 4th to kinder to 1/2 combo, so far this year and I've never taught a combo. I'm concerned with the transitions for Guided Reading for both grades and logistics of centers. Any specific plans and advice would be helpful. We are using HM, but not strict in this area.
I teach K-1-2 Multiage with a teaching partner. We have 11 K's, 15 grade 1 and 14 grade 2 students. We use Everyday Mathematics and always struggle with making it multi- leveled. Does anyone have suggestions?
