How about com...See MoreI've had it too. Put on a huge program, involving 500+ kids. A few negative teachers will feel the need to tell you about the ONE kid who wasn't singing.
Well, guess what?
You are a teacher in this school. I was kind of busy. Why didn't YOU do something about it, if you perceived it to be such a big problem?
How about commenting on the nice job the other 499+ kids did, or how much work I put into organizing the whole thing?
It's a reflection on their negative outlook on the world, and not on the quality of what you did.
Smile, and enjoy your well earned break!

I want to get an early jump on the spring graduation song 5th grade has to perform. They've always done pop songs at my school. I've led Mariah Carey's Hero, Fireflies, and Count on Me the past 3 years.
I used to do the pop song thing for my 5th grade step up, but I've had better luck recently using choral arrangements. It is just so hard to find pop songs that are completely school appropriate.
Reaching for the Stars - Albrecht and Althouse Turning the Page - Hayden We're the Future - Donnelly & Strid Until We Sing Again - Gilpin
Mrs HI like We Go Together from Grease. Since my 5th graders join students from 3 other elementary schools when they get to middle school, it's helpful to remind them that they will all be in this together. Plus it's a super fun song to sing!
I can ...See MoreI posted this on the sub teachers forum but wanted to share with all the music teachers.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...jmt :o)
Many times, I will need to keep internet tabs open for attendance, class videos, etc.
A nice default window, with no advertising, is the word clock from timeanddate(dot)com
I can use this as a "screensaver" without resetting the teacher's computer.
Also, I will use the countdown timer from this site so I do not miss a class transition or end of class period. www(dot)online-stopwatch(dot)com/countdown/
My name is Brian Johnson and I'm a double bassist with the Los Angeles philharmonic. I'm writing you today to let you know about a new app I just released for iPad and iPhone called "learn double bass". The app features over 70 educational videos and accompanying exercises covering almost every technical topic from how to hold the bow and bass to pizzicato to how to perform extended orchestral techniques. This is a great tool for both music educators and bassists to have a directory of information on the bass in their pocket at a moments notice.
Please don't hesitate to email me with any questions you may have! I've placed the fb page address below as well as a direct link to the app in the App Store.

Thank you for fixing the alto clef ...See MoreThe red or green note is very clear...right note name or not? (All games) However, if you enter the notes out of order, you will get all of them wrong. Therefore, you should have instructions such as: "Please click on the correct note names on the clef. Enter them in order from left to right."
Thank you for fixing the alto clef game. I will be using this myself to prepare for an orchestra concert (some music has trombones in alto clef).
One error common to all games is that as soon as you click the correct note name, all ledger lines disappear. This does not help the student remember the note placement and means students could be guessing instead of learning in a fun way.
The option for solfege as well as ABC notation is great!
Looking forward to the next "tweak".

I found a book of vocal selections to choose from (for college auditions). And there's an option for High and Low Voice. I sing tenor; which should I choose?
If you are a female singing the tenor part (guessing by Courtney name) - first of all you shouldn't be! It's harmful to your voice and not an appropriate range for a girl. Especially if you are auditioning for college as a singer, you need to be using healthy vocal technique in an appropriate range.
However, that said, if you are a female used to singing tenor definite choose LOW.
