Maria Eugenia Y. LavadiaHello. I am 41 years of age presently working as P.E. Teacher in College and in Secondary school here in the Philippines. I am interested to work overseas if you still have vacancy. I been teaching since 1995 and gained experiences necessary for my job. Any help from you could mean my family's future. Hoping for your response. God speed.
Have you been teaching since 83? If not, my guess is you may have to start over...one of the problems with trying to take short cuts to get a pe endorsement is it gives physical education a bad rap. Just got back from a workshop and had most my thoughts confirmed as to movement as it is related to reading, math, etc. Physical education is no longer just a class to give classroom teachers a break but should be an intergral part of the entire education system, working with each student to improve reading, etc. Now if we can just convince the mucky mucks who pass ridiculous stipulations about how schools get federal funding only if every student reaches some magical number in test results American schools may just pull out in front again! Probably more than you wanted to hear...sorry, but if you would like to begin teaching pe, please do it through the proper channels.
I have a bachelor's in Exercise Science and am returning to school for PE. Congrats on your decision! I initially wanted to get a Masters in PE, but in my area found that, despite my background in fitness, I needed 2 years of teaching experience to enter a Masters program. Therefore, I am returning to a university that offers the PE degree as either an undergrad OR as a post-bacc certification program. Both tracks are about 2 years and will allow me to teach when completed, but the undergrad degree includes a minor of my choice (coaching, health, adaptive phys ed, etc) which will make me more marketable. I do agree with Linda that need to uphold the creditability of physical education for our children. A healthy lifestyle should be PROACTIVE, not RETROACTIVE! We are responisble for showing kids that being healthy is fun and can be a way of life. My suggestion to you is to research universities in your area. If you hold a bachelors degree, you can most likely enter a 2-year program. Best of luck!

I am a retired physical education teacher with 34 years of experience having taught at the elementary and university levels. I have recently completed a Masters of Education Degree. I have completed a text that is directed to students of physical education at the university level and/or to physical educators working in the field at the elementary and early middle years. This is for the ‘Thinking Man’s’ physical educator while being eminently practical.

Developing Personal/Social and other Physical Education Skills to Create an Effective and Healthy Learning Environment for Students and Teachers Using The ‘Time Method’
The book describes a framework (The ‘Time Method’) that allows any curricular material to be used. The schematic on the flip side of this page traces the general themes inherent in this text, while providing a simple, sequential summary. • The text has a strong academic section which supports the very detailed practical information that pervades the rest of the material. • This resource also uniquely recognizes and makes suggestions that will help keep a physical educator healthy. This feature is never dealt with in any text that I have seen, yet is paramount in keeping teachers in the field. Ironically the health of the practitioner is never a consideration in this health related field when considering curricular design. • Another unique element of this material is a strong emphasis on personal/social management learning outcomes. The framework that is described in great detail allows for all learning outcomes, but it emphasizes relational skills as the bedrock of creating an environment that increases the likelihood of students being more receptive to learning. I have presented workshops across Winnipeg and at the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg based on this material. Copies of this text are available for $19.95 CAD plus, shipping and handling. I would be happy to provide further information.
I bought the GACE XAM cram book to take the test 115 & 116 last June 19th, 2010. I still have it and it's in excellent condition. I paid $60 at Barnes & Noble. If you live in Georgia and would like to purchase the book for $30, just send me an e-mail. I also have some questions to share I still remember from the GACE exams.
Iam a PE teacher in a private school and I will be taking the gace in March is there any insight you can share with me in relations to the two essay questions for pe 115?

I am an accomplished H/PE teacher looking for a full time position in NJ. I will teach at any level, but prefer elementary/middle school. I also coach spring track. I have filled out countless online applications with no success. Not even a phone call. I have been subbing in two districts, but no open positions exist. It is tough out there.
