"Bill Marczak, a senior research fellow with the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs, said the worst-case scenario would be "full access," in which an attacker would be able to essentially control a device, including its microphone and camera.
"The [attackers] I would be most worried about are nation-states or other actors who may have access to resale of commercial spyware sold to nation-states," he said."
The Russian government has spyware that has infiltrated American agencies for years.
"YouTube this week surfaced videos peddling misinformation, hateful messages and conspiracy theories to users searching about mainstream news events—problems that caused the site to change its search results to promote more authoritative sources."
Google needs to clean up it's search engine results now.
2. Higher taxes on Wall Street firms and ...See MoreAs the Republicans plan cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and more so they can give more tax cuts to the rich - America is not overtaxed - here is what a "Progressive budget would include. From the article below:
1. A $2 trillion investment in America's energy, water, and transportation systems.
2. Higher taxes on Wall Street firms and corporations that offshore jobs.
3. A minimum wage hike and stronger union rights.
4. Expansion of mental health treatment and lower prescription drug costs.
5. Public funding of campaigns to curb corporate influence in elections.
6. Rein in "excessive CEO pay for defense contractors."
7. Audit the Pentagon budget.
8. Make debt free college "a reality for all students."
So what is wrong here? This is the re-regulation of capitalism. Without more reforms we will, in a few years, see the rich once again capture the government, de-regulate, and we will be back where we are right now for the third or forth time in our history - depending on how you view history! (e.g. 1880s, 1920s, and today!)
Tim FinneganIf only Lois Lerner would testify. After all, she did nothing wrong, so she should have no reason to not tell her story. I would love to hear her testify under oath.
1. "The Government applied very effectively a counter-cyclical policy. . . ." (For those who do not know, that means they did not do austerity in bad economic times. Too bad America is not that smart!)
2. Emphasis on research was increased, returning to an earlier stage when, in many sectors, including space technology, the Russian Federation was at the forefront. (Now I wish someone would sanction America!)
3. Effective import substitution technologies were put in place, in particular in agriculture. (Bad news for Europe! Russia is building substitutes for what they once bought from Europe.)
4. A policy was quickly introduced to pivot towards other partners in Asia and other regions. (Again, bad news for Europe! Russia will be buying more from Asia.)
And finally who suffered:
5. (Sanctions) have led in the process to a regrettable deterioration of the standard of living of the most vulnerable population groups in the Russian Federation and have also adversely affected smallholder farmers in Europe.
If sanctions for 70 years did not work on Cuba, we should have known - but we don't!
