"I'm a former prosecutor, so I was trained appropriately to never discuss a trial until it is completed," said Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.). "That process needs to be completed before we all start weighing in politically."
Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) said it was "not for me to decide" whether Trump is guilty. "I think we should let the legal process play out."
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), however, praised his colleague as a "champion" for residents of the USA.
"He's innocent until proven guilty. So he is an innocent man," he said. "If he's proven guilty, I think there's going to be some serious appeals because I think there are some fundamental constitutional questions that I've never seen in a case like this."
I'm sure by now, you've figured out these aren't quotes about our president. Rather they are the reactions of Democrats to the investigation of Aden Menendez (I think he's a democrat... The NY Times never said in their original story). Interesting to see how people believe in innocent until proven guilty when it's a member of their own party.
Bob R/CAYou just said he wasn't guilty. You're arguing with yourself... and losing. The GOP just stole Obama's Supreme Court pick, so cry me a river about the dems replacing Menendez.
Tim FinneganYou claim he is guilty. Get the bum out, if that's the case!
I believe in the whole innocent until proven guilty. You, apparently, do not through your comments. Notice where I say "if" when talking about his guilt. You have no doubt about it. Yet you want some lowlife in office like this.
Hill is still trying to keep the spotlight with her new book tour in states that she ignored (and lost) during the election. Guess when it's about profits, she's all about visiting fly-over country.
Is he being sued? Criminal charges? All I see if Chalky listing a news item where HE is suing someone. It looks like the only action he's been subjected to was a firing by his employer. Sounds like your beef is with Fox News.
We are too qu...See MoreNo, he's not being sued, despite the allegations made against him. I'm not sure why he's not in trouble for his alleged actions.
But, if those actions did not happen (we will see with the defamation lawsuit), then the news organizations that published the false claims will be the ones responsible for his son's death.
We are too quick to come out with news before facts ... Duke lacrosse... Rolling Stone and the U of Virginia... Tawana Brawley and the Rev...I'm not sure why these stories need to come out as allegations. But, then again, it's all about the ratings.
But t...See MoreTrump can't really bear responsibility for budgetary matters, because he's done nothing in those matters, really, except increase troops in the war zones he formerly pledged needed to be brought home. Those defense appropriations can account for increases in the spending, which realistically could account for the increase in deficit.
But the real proof will be when the GOP pushes through an actual budget, and presumably tax cuts. I haven't seen any net decreases in spending based on Trump's "proposals" (more programs he'd indicated he'd support expanding). But I have seen a marked decrease in revenue from the tax cuts he's proposing.
We can have this discussion with more conviction in another 6 months, when we have projections to look at, and then with more confidence after we see the fiscal results of the 115th Congress.
"PS...you seem to ignore the Russia support online for Bernie during the primaries. The guy is hiding something. Not sure I want to know what."
This is new news! This man and Bernie should be called before Congress to explain what it is they know. And does Adam not want to know what Bernie is hiding so that he doesn't get Clinton'd?
"Trump's decisions are based entirely on his own immediate ego needs -- not party loyalty, not personal loyalty, not what's good for the country, not what's good for anyone but Trump.
"'Trump betrays everyone: wives, business associates, contractors, bankers and now, the leaders of the House and Senate in his own party,' says Rick Wilson, a Republican strategist. 'They can't explain this away as [a] 15-dimensional Trump chess game. It's a dishonest person behaving according to his long-established pattern.'" [end quoted text]
I mean, Pres. Trump is only inte...See MoreWell, I would say Robert Reich is correct! However, Pres. Trump is not necessarily the worst of a government filled with people who have been, at the least, bought and paid for - for a long time. Be it McConnell, Ryan, Schumer, or Pelosi, none have an interest in solving the problems this country is facing.
I mean, Pres. Trump is only interested in his "immediate ego needs", which is why he sometimes stumbles into a policy that makes sense. The others have a clear vision of their goal to help the rich at the expense of the rest of this country - despite what they may say.
In light of that, it is best that we not assume that Pres. Trump is some anomaly of corruption in our government. Most in government are not so blatant. Yet, Pres. Trump is just the "overt" expression of what America has been electing for a long time.
