Now Trump is tweeting long debunked myths about General Pershing, in a furious effort to attack everyone who looks and believes differently than he does.
Republicans, you won't be able to do it if the republic is destroyed. (or the Republicans.) It's time to act. Or at least, begin the process.
EasTexSteveSo, Bob, what's wrong with that? They don't need to defend the illegal actions of the counter-protesters. The mainstream media is already doing that.
Also, It states clearly on the face of the permit: "The Sponsor of a special event shall furnish a general liability and property damage insurance contract insuring the sponsors liability for personal injury and death and damages to property resulting from its use of public property." I bet the counter-protesters didn't have this. And, by not having a permit, they didn't satisfy this requirement, and were also in violation of this ordinance.
EasTexSteveCorrection: The permit location was McGuffey and Justice Parks, but the city spokesperson in the article said it was for Emancipation Park. Evidently, they must also be on some serious drugs. But, one thing is for sure: There was only one permit issued, and that was to the white nationalists.
LuluSteve, have you not seen video of hundreds of alt-right torch wielding marchers on the grounds of UVA Friday night? Yes, they were trespassing and they did assault the students surrounding the Jefferson statue.
LuluSteve, after reading your posts with language like "anti-white" I am, sadly, beginning to suspect we would have been on opposite sides of the street had we both attended the events in Charlottesville.
All terror...See MoreBob, you claim BLM is dedicated to ending violence, yet the group continues to have chants such as "Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon." And continues to burn buildings and destroy property. I personally find it revolting that you condone this behavior. But, if you are okay with violence from one group, that is your decision.
All terrorists, from the white guy using his car yesterday to the black guy shooting police at a BLM rally should be held in equal disdain.
And about one side or the other not hating, what do you call tagging everyone who opposes you with "You don't champion pedophiles or the nazis." You have taken on the argument of the most extreme and declared it as the thinking of all. Some just see the destruction of history as a kin to book burning. Not to say the statues cannot be removed, but there must be some middle ground.
And about "Choices like that are why Trump will never have an approval above 40%, and the nation will never be united while he remains in office." I am not a Trump fan - I hate is policies. However, if you take the time to listen to what the president said you find he first denounced racism and more. Then he went on to say both sides bear some responsibility for the violence.
For example, Adele M. Stan starts her article "White Supremacist Chaos In Charlottesville Is Just the Beginning" with this:
(Quote)
Arriving in downtown Charlottesville about a half-hour before the scheduled noon start time for the Unite the Right rally on Saturday, it was clear that violence was inevitable. I rode past a throng of men with semiautomatic rifles slung across their backs, and a group of left-wing counter protesters bearing sticks and clubs.
(End quote)
Everyone should remember that the establishment - that is, the democrats, republicans, the deep state, and their news media are all against the President and some would like to see him removed. President Trump is in a situation where whatever he does is wrong, and if it is not, they will find something wrong. Yet, if a president you do not like can be removed; a president you like can also be removed.
Or more critically, statements like "the nation will never be united while he remains in office" are a direct attack on the democracy and elections of this country. There was a time when people said after an election, "Well, I don't like the guy, but now he is our president." Those days are gone, and with it civility!
Maybe we should be asking, who is stirring this up? I mean, who is behind this drive to get Americans to hate one another. Yes, both sides hate the other and it is likely that someone is financing these groups. And finally, this whole meaningless fight is distracting us from what?
Maybe the truth is, the people and their hate are being played like a fiddle!
He added, "They di...See MoreSeveral reports have said that the police stood by as white supremacists and their foes faced off in fights. Others said that when the violence escalated, unprepared police had to leave to get proper equipment.
Gilmore also said there was a report that some police were "asked to stand aside and be more passive."
He added, "They didn't have a plan to separate these groups. The governor seems to be blaming everybody else."
In a televised statement Saturday, McAuliffe seemed to blame the white hate groups for the violence, but he later blamed the ACLU which sued to keep the protest in downtown Charlottesville.
