Bob R/CANoted: you don't want to discuss how the bill benefitted people, especially the most at-risk - you just want to argue it didn't fit a semantic definition that means nothing.
EasTexSteveIt didn't benefit those millions who were already getting fully paid health coverage with low deductibles through their employers. It hurt them.
Even John Conyers who is introducing a single payer bill in the house is encouraging Democrats to vote ... AGAINST his bill! Actions speak louder than words ... the Democrats claim to want a single payer system, but definitely don't want to vote FOR one. At least they still have their Cadillac plan that they exempted from their Obamacare bill ... still the only bill that Democrats have voted FOR.
Tim FinneganI would like to see a bipartisan bill that addresses many of the issues of Obamacare. Some type of compromise where both sides give and take.
Also, if democrats, such as Bernie really want single-payer, they should vote for it when it comes up, not simply vote present.
ChalkyBernie Sanders said today he was Introducing a single payer bill. I think he just might vote for it unlike Republican Daines who attached an amendment to the ObamaCare Repeal bill and then ***didnt even vote for it ***.
Sanctions did not work with Cuba, North Korea, and Iran. They will not work now! Worse, Russia will turn to China and strengthen the Asian economic block and weaken American influence.
Germany will be left with a choice. The new sanctions cost America little, but are a serious economic blow to Germany. In the end, the German people will likely pick their own economic interests over America's hatred of Russia. This will weaken American influence in NATO. Simply put, the Europeans are tired of doing whatever America says - particularly when our foreign policy is so stupid!
These sanctions could easily restart the "Cold War" for another generation or two, and the big loser will be America.
PS: If Russia influenced our elections - and there is no publicly available proof - it is time to quit blaming Russia and start blaming ourselves for being so stupid as to not have the systems in place to stop anyone from doing this. IMHO, the whole thing is like the General who loses the battle and then complains, "That was not fair! The other general tricked me!"
Frankly, our country looks like a child having a temper tantrum.
An amendment to a healthcare bill that would create a single-payer healthcare system was defeated 57-0 Thursday in the Senate.
Several Democrats voted against the amendment, including Sens. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Jon Tester of Montana and Angus King of Maine, an Independent. All 52 Republicans voted "no" and other **Democrats voted "present," meaning that they like the proposal but believe it has flaws**.
Bob R/CASingle payer is coming, it's a little surprising that people who it would benefit most seem resistant to it. It looks pretty solid that they will at lower Medicare eligibility to 50, so at least many of the most vulnerable will get to enjoy that improvement.
