Bring in ol' Lying Chuck Schumer... he already promised Trump border wall funding. And now he says he doesn't anymore. Guess it's the left that people should be wary of as well as the right.
Bob R/CAI'm confused. Trump broke his promise to sign anything the parties came up with, then denounced the Durbin-Graham bill. How can you expect anyone to negotiate with a liar? Be honest - would you?
Curiouser and curiouser. Hopefully the DOJ gets to the bottom of this inexcusable lapse of the FBI and their data collection system.
And why did Strzok think that there was no big there there ... will that harm the Democrats attacks on Trump? Of course, we will see impeachment come when the Democrats take back the House and Senate, as well as a DACA solution, single-payer health care bills, and the electoral college removed. I'm sure when the Democrats have complete control of Congress, those things will happen in the first days of the Pelosi-Schumer Congress. And the missing FBI texts will be pushed under the rug.
Bob R/CAWhy are you talking about the dems? The GOP has the exeutive branch and congress. Why don't you ask that guy who recused himself, to release that classified information? Hopefully it will work out better than the Benghazi hearings...
Also... why didn't Obama follow through on his campaign promise to do comprehensive immigration reform in his first year, instead of using his own? The democrats had control of both houses of congress and the executive branch for two years under O. They should have been able to do anything they wanted with complete control the way republicans have control of both branches now.
Oh, wait, both parties are own by the rich and their corporations, and they want the labor market flooded with cheap labor. The point: neither party is going to do anything to solve this problem - because American democracy is dead and has been replaced with an oligarchy.
In light if this, it is clear why Obama didn't "follow through on his campaign promise to do comprehensive immigration reform." Obama was every bit the corporate stooge that the Democrats and Republicans are.
Hopefully, one day, someone will enforce laws against hiring ill...See MoreI couldn't agree more. Although I do not know why the sheeple on the left believe the Democrats really want immigration reform. They had complete control for two years, and should have been able to pass anything they wanted. So, one can only assume that it was not a priority.
Hopefully, one day, someone will enforce laws against hiring illegal immigrants. I would ask Democrats what they envision for the Dreamers? And how do they intend to secure our borders so that this problem is not simply a revolving door problem?
Appearing on the ABC News program "This Week," Schumer said, "basically, it's sort of like this: someone goes into your house, takes your wife and children hostage and then says, let's negotiate over the price of your house. You know, we could do the same thing on immigration. We believe strongly in immigration reform. We could say, 'We're shutting down the government, we're not gonna raise the debt ceiling, until you pass immigration reform.' It would be governmental chaos."
Apparently it's okay to say we're shutting down the government until you pass immigration reform when you're the party on the outs. Which is it, Chucky?
I think that this person was spot on with his take... "The basic line is: No matter how strongly one feels about an issue, you shouldn't hold millions of people hostage. That's what the other side is doing. That's wrong and we can't give in to that." Of course, that was the one, the only, Chuck Schumer. Who is doing just that.
For some reason, the Democrats are choosing to be legislative arsonists (That's a Pelosi-ism). "I join the American people in their disgust in what happened in terms of the shutdown of government. That's an unthinkable tactic to use in a political debate." ... that's Pelosi, who is in the party that is in favor of this governmental shutdown.
Cue Bernie... "Ultimately, what we are dealing with tonight is an extraordinary anti-democratic act. Every member of the Senate has strong feelings, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, but when you are in the minority—they do not control the White House, they do not control the United States Senate—they cannot force the American people to give them what they want." CNN Poll ...Which is more important? Avoid a shutdown or continue DACA? 56/34 is avoid the shutdown.
So, I am amazed that Schumer and Sanders voted for the shutdown.
"As we said a thousand times, we are happy to discuss how to fund the government but not with a gun to our head. Open up all of the government, and then we can have a fruitful discussion." -Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY)
"That is how a budget works, how appropriations works, and how our government is run. But to take an extraneous issue and to say unless we get rid of it, they are going to shut down the government, no way." -Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) (Although this would be to take an extraneous issue and say unless we add it...)
"Because to only talk while the government is shut down does huge damage to millions of innocent people and to our country's economy. They forgot to say: Let's vote. Then let's talk. Their motto should be modified." -Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), And now, he won't even allow a straight up or down vote and insists on filibustering the CR.
"It makes much more sense to have the government open and then have the debate in the proper place--a conference committee that decides future funding, in an omnibus appropriations bill--what level of funding, if any, each part of the government should get." -Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY)
"But first open the government and pay our bills. Then we can sit down and debate our differences. The future of our financial system, the future of millions of Americans, is at stake. We don't play around with that. We don't hold that hostage." -Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY)... except he will hold Americans hostage over immigrants who entered this country, through no fault of their own, illegally.
"I believe in immigration reform. What if I persuaded my caucus to say I'm going to shut the government down, I'm going to not pay our bills unless I get my way. It's a politics of idiocy, of confrontation, of paralysis." Chuck Schumer (D-NY) ... seems he's all for a politics of idiocy, confrontation, paralysis now that a Republican is president.
"One faction of one party in one House of Congress in one branch of government doesn't get to shut down the entire government just to refight the results of an election." Barack Obama
"Right now, House Republicans continue to tie funding of the government to ideological demands like limiting a woman's access to contraception or delaying the Affordable Care Act, all to save face after making some impossible promises to the extreme right wing of their party," - Barack Obama, although he would now substitute Senate Democrats, DACA, and left.
"You don't like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election. Push to change it. But don't break it," - Barack Obama
What happened to all of those strong feelings about keeping the government open? About keeping the full faith and credit of the US Government above question, and to negotiate after that is done? Now, it seems OK to filibuster, and to shut the government down. It seems OK for Democrats to continue to be legislative arsonists and hold a gun to the head of the American people over illegal immigration.
Bob R/CAHe said Trump has heart disease. And Trump refuses to do any exercise. Trump may exit office without a humiliating reelection defeat after all.
Looks like Apple has plans to repatriate a nice chunk of change, and pay their fair share in taxes on that money. Also, a promise of new spending, new jobs, and investment ... things are starting to look even brighter for the Trump economy. Let's hope it continues.
Tim FinneganBob, first of all, the republicans aren't my "guys" (Why you use such a sexist term is beyond me). My "guys" are not of the two major parties. Why are you so angry that money is coming back into the country from overseas? Also, the investment in that all important three letter word (if you listen to Biden) J-O-B-S?
Bob R/CAI know what you're saying, Tim - even when you are a Trump supporter, you don't want to admit that. And you regret it when you reveal it through clues - like, constantly praising him, and refraining from criticizing him, even when he sides with our enemies against your country. You'd have to be shameless not to be ashamed of that.
Michelle Obama is part of the problem. She believes that the GOP is all grey and white. And that women who voted against Hillary (who won the election if you believe Bob) voted against their own interest.
Judge people on the color of their skin, she does.
T.E.C. - IowaOf the millennial women that I know, most were saying they understood a woman would one day be president - just not this woman! Frankly, as a guy, I think they had a bigger point. Hillary, as the first woman president, would have set back female equality by decades.
Bob R/CAWho said that Hillary won the election? She won the popular vote, by three million. I accept the election results. I think you're confusing me with someone else.
Before you attack that claim, remember that those on the left like to attack Trump for his comments about immigrants. Just as Trump did not say all immigrants, this "ad" does not say all white people. But just as the left loves to take his comments as all immigrants, they must believe this ad means all whites.
Good to see that the left is stopping to Trump's level.
Another example, twice this week I saw a news clip on the illegal DACA children who are in medical school. I discussed this with my friends and they agreed (with me) that this is a "hit piece." For those whose lives - or their children's lives - have turned out poor! You know, the ones the media likes to call racist, their response would be anger and the question "Why are our tax dollars going to put a DACA child in medical school instead of an American citizen."
Worse, this is all happening because the oligarchs who run this country - and who own both parties - were planning on Hillary winning (which would have been an even bigger disaster than now). The oligarchs are unhappy with Trump for doing things like getting rid of the TTP and TTIP trade agreements, for (like it or not) deporting illegals and messing with their cheap labor supply, and more. Plus, Pres. Trump's crudeness demonstrates to all who were asleep during the Obama Admin. just how awful we are.
Seriously, when you look at the homeless, hungry, health care, education, and then add in the way we are needlessly bombing Yemen back to the Stone Age, there is nothing, absolutely nothing that is Christian about the public image of America.
What we are seeing is the oligarchs working on a plan to force Pres. Trump out of office. Sadly, many democratic citizens are cheering this on. It does not seem to dawn on them, if they can remove a president you do not like; they can remove a president you like.
