I would like to hear from others that have used it, how you liked/didn't like it, why-- and how much training should be given to make sure it is used correctly?
I am concerned with how much time we will need to spend doing documentation and assessment.
I have a few children who head to Kindergarten next year who seem bored. They know letters, can count, know colors, shapes... They seem to need something to do during centers. I have learning material (upper to lower case letter match, rhyming match, etc)out at centers but they are not interested in it. What do I do with them?

With syllables, have them clap the words and tap the words with rhythm sticks or castanets. You can have them sort photos of their classmates by the # of syllables in their names.
With oral blending, I hold up my left hand and say "bl", then hold up my right hand and say "ock", then clap my hands together and say "block". After we've practiced that several times, I say the segmented word and have them tell me what it is
What is the ribbon used for in The Red Ribbon: A Book About Friendship? What do the bears use the ribbon for and in what order? I need this for a lesson plan but I forgot the book at school! Please help!!
I think the momentum is going to come from the individual states and even down to the district level. That is what is happening here. Our state had full day K provided for the first time this year and K isn't even required in our state. I don't see the federal push to be anytime soon as I can't imagine anyone in Congress able to agree and move that fast.

Here is an update, and I swear I am not making this up. It has turned into a nightmare:
1. I was dismissed from the local public school district that houses these students (someday) and their older siblings (currently) because a group of parents formed some kind of council and demanded that I not be around their children because the Tweets indicated that I was a threat to the community. The HR director shared this formally written letter to me when I exercised my legal right to review my personnel file. I had worked for the district for 11 years.
2. I have been legally exiled from the community. I received a letter of "defiant trespass notice" from their lawyer, stating that I can not be on or near the premises of the school or church, or in any contiguous area. There are stores and shopping centers all around the school/church. Otherwise, local law enforcement will be notified.
I can't express in words how I am feeling right now, so I am not even going to try. Thanks for reading.
...See MoreSamuel, I can even begin to imagine what this means to you. This is such an ugly situation that I am like you - what can be said. You are right. You are living a nightmare. Do you have options at this point? Is this a small town? Even if you lived there and worked in another community, I am afraid that this would follow you wherever you go.
When I think that convicted child molestors have more rights then you do, it just makes me angry. I am so sorry and I wish I could give you a big hug and make it all go away.
I just wanted everyone who replied to know that I read all of your replies...See MoreI had previously posted in four different threads about my experience in being terminated from my Pre-K position due to a series of impersonated Twitter accounts. Then I was subsequently exiled from my home district, the school/church, and the surrounding community.
I just wanted everyone who replied to know that I read all of your replies, and I thank all of you very much for your advice, support, and kind words.
Your responses are greatly appreciated and inspiring. Thank you to those who took the time to read my posts. I shall consider every piece of advice given to me in moving forward.
You have no idea how much your time (in reading and replying) means to me.
Thank you especially to "A Caring Former Director" for following my entire story, replying to every thread, and offering great insight and advice into various perspectives regarding not only my situation, but your own experience.
What is the difference between Gestwicki's DAP textbook and Copple's DAP textbook? I am not in college looking for the right book for the class; I want the right book for me. I'm in no huge hurry; nothing will make me pay Amazon's crazy current university textbook prices! Thanks.

Hi. I have no clue but I have to say I thought to myself when I read your headline that a DAP textbook for PreK sounded like, what do they call them --an oxymoron? I was visualizing someone asking what textbook would be DAP for prek's? WIth today's expectations for the younger children, it wasn't a stretch to assume that is what you meant initially. Thanks for the chuckle.
