I need to interview a child care professional and ask them a series of questions (I have six questions) and am hoping someone would like to be interviewed. Please let me know and I can post and/or email you the questions, they basically range from how you got started in the field to your personal favorite preschool activities to any major influences in how you view Early Childhood Education (e.g. Bronfrenbrenner, Freud, Erickson, etc.). Please let me know if you are interested!
Hey everyone, I have a shelf in my room, for extra storag, that does not have a door so I have a curtain that covers the shelf. Every year I when I line kids up they want to look inside some even play hide and seek. This year I don't want this problem. What do you all suggest?

First let me say I had to laugh at this one (Children playing hide and seek in the shelf).
If you are just using it for your own storage, put a back on the shelf and place the shelf facing the wall with the back facing out into the room. You can hang a poster or some type of learning interactive chart on the back. That way you gain a wall space and they can't play hide and seek.
I have been looking for this as well, and I am having a hard time too. I have been using my states curriculum- Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. It gives you ideas on what to teach and the objectives. Many states have their own preschool curriculum focus with objectives that a lot of preschools use to prepare their students for Kindergarten.
Emotions: In my opinion this is not good, because during the early years of a child's life, he or she is still learning how to express themselves/their emotions. Depending on the age of the child, if he or she is between the ages of 3 and 5, they should be encouraged to use their words instead of cry, but this also depends on the situation.
Outdoor Play: If parents send their children to preschool, they should not expect their children's clothes to be tidy. Being in preschool is not only about learning but its about having lots of fun with friends too(social interaction, and being able to express him or herself). If parents expect clean clothes and no injuries, then they should probably think of other alternatives rather then send their child to preschool. This is just my opinion as a teacher. When parents enroll in my classroom I do inform them that this is what to be expected(messy clothes and minor trips and falls).
Do any of you use a science curriculum, purchased or free? I'd love to find one that builds on previous learning, and goes through the whole school year. I want to focus my energy on other things this school year, and I'd love to have a science curriculum designed by someone else to use!
