I"m starting a nonfiction unit specifically how-to's. I usually make something in class - (peanutbutter sandwiches or choc. pudding - but 2 kids are allergic). Any suggestions on what to make? Thanks

Babs I like to give each student an oreo cookie and have them write how to eat one. Then they meet with their buddy and they each have to follow the other how to. It is fun to see the children try to eat the cream when the student didn't write to take the cookie apart. We read several books showing How to... prior to this activity. ETC I do a unit on how-to's also. Keep it simple and easy. I do "How to wash your hands" or "How to sharpen a pencil." The kids write the directions and I test them out literally. They laugh hysterically when I mess up.
