We might be doing a 1st/2nd combo next year. So far I haven't gotten much positive feedback. I don't think I'm teaching it -- but just in case -- what would this look like? Thanks!

DR Hello! I did a 1/2 combo one year and I really liked it. I did guided reading groups and each child was in a group based on their level, so it didn't matter what grade each child was in. I taught math separately though. I would have one group work on their centers while I worked with the other group on the floor. And then we'd switch. For science, ...See More

Cath I have taught 1/2 a number of times (also 1/2/3 and 2/3 and K/1). Teaching 1/2 is a great combination. The maturity and independence of the 2's really help with the grade 1's and they are wonderful role models and guides for the younger kids.
