I teach at a Catholic school whose enrollment has taken a downturn in the last few years. I would be interested in any ideas you have or successful methods you have used to increase admissions. After lots of discussion, we've decided it's a financial decision for families, but also a social one. Once certain students leave, others seem to follow. Our flight seems to be happening in the middle school grades. It's not an issue of quality as our public schools do not offer a good alternative. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.
Montana K-1-2 A Lutheran school I taught at had the same problem. I suggest that the middle school children are given something to look forward to in those grades. Then they would say, "I can't leave because I'll miss out on.....(class trip, party, etc. ) Plus, I think the teachers need to be excellent and have a good rapport with the kids. Rosie We hold a curriculum night for 5th and 6th grade parents. Our teachers talk about the strength of our curriculum and the principal talks about our extra curriculars - forensics, English competitions, newspaper, math club, science fairs, sports etc.
