Greetings. I am currently taking courses in order to receive my Bachelor's in Education and I have a few questions in regards to differentiated lessons at the middle school level. One question is how to challenge the smarter kids in class while still keeping the class on the same page. Is it okay to give them more challenging work, or will they catch on to this and not find it fair compared to what their peers are doing in class? What are some tips on how to differentiate a lesson enough so that students who aren't catching on as quick can keep up with the class while at the same time not boring the students who are excelling in the subject?

In general, does anyone have any tips on how to differentiate a lesson to reach out to all students in a class, even in a classroom with minimal technology (No computer or SMART board)?
Jan Carol Ann Tomlinson is the leading educator on differentiation. Here is a link to articles and power point lessons where she gives the basics of this process. If you google her you will find even more resources on line. I think for what you are looking for....the over all process of differentiation....these websites would be the most helpful to you...See More
