Teachers,I am curious about how you teach the writing process. After studetns have been given an open-ended prompt, what are the steps you have them take prior to beginning the first draft. Thank you.

I have them do a graphic organizer (bubble map usually) with the prompt as the center bubble....See More

GAteacher Students need modeling in writing. The writing process isn't something where you give the students a prompt and go from there. Here are the steps I use when teaching the writing process. Yes it seems like a lot, but I want the kids to clearly understand the steps..therefore, I model, model, model...then let them practice, practice, practice...
