Art teacher must have portf...See MoreFurther clarification: This is a very small private HOME SCHOOL. The children are less than 4 in total. You will be teaching ONE on ONE.
$25/hr Hourly Pay comes out to $800 per month for Science Teacher and $400 Per month for Art teacher.
8 hours a week for science and 4 hours a week for art.
Art teacher must have portfolio for me to review.
All supplies are provided as needed. Teachers will be expected to make a list of necessary supplies and use them during each lesson. Life science studies will include teaching about butterfly life cycle, ant colonies, etc... Teacher must be able to maintain his/her small lab area with these insects hamsters etc.., look after them and teach students how to look after them, etc... free them into proper habitats after the study is done, etc...
I expect plenty of discussion and plenty of hand-on acivities. For example, owl pellet dissection should include in depth study about owls, their habitats, how they affect the ecosystem, their diet, plenty of journalling, data gathering, visiting an owl sanctuary, studying flight patterns and wing spans, etc...
Lego Robotics, computer programming, study about airplanes, steam engines, combustion, etc.. etc... Tie the practise of science into the history and future of science.
Think of this as an opportunity for a good teacher to train future dedicated scientists by laying the foundation deep and strong, using only developing world resources.
Please go through the position and make sure you are a good match. Serious educators only, who can discuss their subject in depth. These are bright, inquisitive and very mature children.
Use of dry erase boards, computers, over head projectors etc.. with as much practical experiments as possible using easily available material or things that are not too expensive. Must be able to adapt their teaching methods to limited resources but use those resources in depth and efficiently. Go on field trips as needed, dig in the garden as needed, make use of found objects, etc.. Set up the lab with all the various equipment test-tubes scales miscroscopes etc..(reasonably priced) and be proficient in scientific jargon necessary to teach.
Art teacher should also be able to advise on materials and supplies, and be proficient in art history. For example, I would expect a study of Oriental art with a tie-in to Ancient China studies that we do at home, and making papier-mache mummies for our study of Ancient Egypt, etc... Native american art for study of Lenape life, an exploration of the art different masters - renaissance, cubist, abstract, Matisse Monet Picasso etc...
Teachers MUST be certified and have experience teaching at elementary/middle/highs chool levels.
This position is ideal for retired or unemployed teachers, or for current teachers looking to supplement their income. Hours are very flexible.
Position starts in OCTOBER - not September as originally stated.
This job is going to be a real challenge for any teacher, and I want someone who has the time to enjoy it.
