Hey!

I'm a Canadian teacher who went to teacher's college in Buffalo New York. I have experience teaching grade 1 and kindergarten, and additionally occastional teaching in grades k-5. It is nearly impossible to get a permanent job in Ontario.

I am looking to move to the U.S. I have been looking everywhere to find schools in the MA area who are willing to sponsor me. Do you know of any? Or even any recruiters that I can contact. I know I need to take the state exams in order to be qualified to teach in MA or any other state; this an easy thing to do. I already have passed my state exams to teach in NY.

I have signed up for the VIF program, who only offer a limited amount of states to work in. If I get a job through them, I would start work in August 2009. I would rather get work now than wait, if it's possible.

I am quite frustrated, please help.
CanadianTeacher I taught with VIF right out of school. I had a very stressful experience. They place you in the worst schools. I returned to Ontario and got on two school boards right away. I don't believe it is impossible to find work here. You have to be positive and go out there and promote yourself.

lee I would love to hear more about your experience teaching in the states. I live in New Zealand and would like to spend a bit of time in the states and don't know much about VIF or what the process is like obtaining a teaching gig in America.

Cheers, Lee
