I have some GA specific questions on career transitioning into science education. If so, please reply and I will ask away. Thanks very much in advance.

If there is no problem, I would think that a school would be lucky to have a mature, responsible, educated science teacher. :)

Federal retirement pension instead. I am trying to plan ahead and gauge the job market before committing to the lengthy paperwork/process of becoming a federal retiree.
I know there were several science jobs listed on the Georgia site during the summer but not much now. I'm sure the prime time for that is spring/summer. Probably around January I am just going to start sending resumes out to all the districts in my area and see what happens.
How do you cover textbook reading in your middle school science class? Do students read aloud in class or is reading assigned as homework with discussions in class? Any ideas of what works best for comprehension?

I started using the SQ3R method and am seeing improved comprehension
I thinking depends on the grade level. I do not assign reading as homework for most of my sixth graders but will assign it to with graders. I really vary how we read. Sometimes, kids take turns and I question throughout. I have started working more on note taking as well. It takes up a lot of time but Istill believe it is vital to helping them improve comprehension. Other times, I have kids partner read...read a paragraph silently then share the main idea with the partner after covering up the paragraph.
...See MoreI'm wondering if there's anyone out there using Holt Chemistry who could help me out. We seem to have lost the test generator CD. Since we do have the CD for Holt Physics, we have the test generator software and really are just missing the question banks for chemistry. I think it's only about a megabyte of data, so could be easily emailed.
