My name is Matthew Callison. I am a former elementary teacher working on my PhD in the School of Education at Indiana University Bloomington.
I am writing to ask for your voluntary participation in an online survey I created as part of a research study I am conducting. The purpose of this study is to learn more about elementary teachers knowledge of, and experience with, student-centered teaching approaches. My hope is that the information gathered in this study can be used to understand how we can better support elementary teachers.

It will be an earth science game with different levels for grades 2/3, 4/5 and then middle school and one or two players. It will send a report to the teacher on the success of the student/s playing. Great Science Books For The Common (if this was Great Science) then the word common wouldnt be used like "'" to break down the word common means to simplify or to make it of easy understanding, so many books have been writen of the same thing, over n over again, science is like a coin no matter how fast it spins when it stops the images will remain the same hence trickery "its in the eye of them beholder" but whats is asked of the material that is made "that is science". 1.0.1

I really liked the part of the experiment that used the microscope!
I am having trouble bridging the gap between the phase of direct instruction and application of concepts. My students are not doing well on assessments. I can re teach but they seem to miss the application questions. Can anyone share how you teach for mastery of topic rather than memorization of facts?

Just looking for timing of stoichiometry in high school chem. I have taught chem in a 1 hr period, full year setting to Jrs and Srs for 14 years. I have always been done with stoich before christmas. Now I have another teacher in the mix and she is determined we don't do stoich until late Jan-early Feb. Any input?
This is my fifth year of teaching Chemistry and the first year I am try to finish up Stoichiometry before Christmas but I wish I would have waited till after the holidays. Going to have a hard time finishing the chapter with all the activities going on. Small school-basketball I would not worry as long as she gets it covered.
