Subjects taught by science teachers

I have been teaching jr and sr school science in The Bahamas for the past 20 years. (grades 7-12)I am called on to teach both general science (earth science) and health science to grades 7-9, and biology to grades 10-12. As a body we are now being asked to teach combined science to grades 10-12. I am just curious about what other teachers are asked to teach, i always believed that as a teacher you should be asked to teach one discipline..either health or general or biology or combined or physics or chemistry. Furthermore curricula are developed with little or no imput from teachers and are implemented overnight. This works you really hard having to research and compile information,develop worksheets and activities for each topic, while multiple topics are being taught at the same time because of the range of grade levels. Is it any different in your school?
