Teaching Jobs on Teachers.Net

So I've been teaching in a Charter the last 3 years. I've been told by more than one person that, as a teacher, there isn't really a future there (never mind the lower pay, longer hours, lack of tenure, less benefits, etc.). So for the last 1.5 months I've tried looking for jobs in traditional districts (in SoCal). I thought that having a subject specific science credential would make me a shoe-in. I've seen one opening within 50 miles of my house. Meanwhile, I've seen multiple English and Social Science jobs in my immediate area.

What gives? Are districts waiting until schools out to post the science jobs? With the huge flow of money coming in from the state and feds, you'd think that we'd see more jobs. Kind of depressing.
are you sure you're right about the money? On 5/02/14, Kevin wrote: > So I've been teaching in a Charter the last 3 years.
