While teaching one of my gcse classes therapeutic cloning a few days ago a child asked a question that left me quite stumped. She said, and I'm paraphrasing here, if genes in cells can be switched on and therefore produce a stem cell why can't scientists divide that cell through the process of mitosis to create many stem cells instead of putting it into an embryo that is against many ethical arguments. This question is actually quite interesting and i'm just hoping any of you know the awnser
