I am recently retired and sold most of my books, but one of my favorite CHARACTER books was BOSS FOR A WEEK, which I think was by Libby Handy.
Each day Darling Sweet Carolyn makes up a rule, which everyone must follow, except Darling Sweet Carolyn. She can do as she pleases. Every rule that she doesn't have to follow brings her trouble, which she didn't expect. At the end of the week, she decides that rules are not so bad after all.

RECESS QUEEN is another character book, which I LOVED. Mean Jean, the Recess Queen learns we can get along with others at recess. RECESS QUEEN is by by Alexis O'Neill and Laura Huliska-Beith.

ENEMY PIE by Derek Munson is a great book for changing enemies into friends.

As I reread your post, I think I might have messed the mark, but I am still going to post.

I am looking for DRTA lesson plans that have worked for you. Are there any sites that have these? I really want to know which good trade books or children's basal stories are good to use. Thanks!
Another question, if "ou" says "ow" like in cow, or "o" like in grow, is that a digraph or dipthong? Which category would "thorough" fit? Thanks for any help or direction to a site that explains this well.

Even tho' my site is geared more to K-1st, since you are still looking for Leap Day and frog things and I have lots of FREE stuff on both, you might still be able to find a few ideas that you can gear up, like the "Frog Math Facts".
You can write any facts on the frog's tongue. The writing prompts to make class books might be fun, and the frog pencil topper is cute too.
It's been over 10 years since I taught 2nd, so I know it's really changed.
Anyway...you can check out the blog articles on Leap Day at: [link removed]
or the main page site at: [link removed]
Frogs are under May and Science (Life Cycle stuff) At any rate have a great Leap Day!

They can be used for anything.
I meant to explain that she give out the BEST tickets for anything... clean desks, great helpers, finishing a long assignment, etc. I mean she doesn't just use them for reading.
