Does anyone know of a website that works like a classroom response clicker system and would provide immediate feedback as to how many people answered a question correctly by making a graph?
Just wanted to let you know about a new website with SMART Board Notebook lessons for teachers. It covers math, science, social studies, and language arts - mostly geared towards K-5 teachers.
You will need a SMART Board to use the lessons on the website.
The site includes book recommendations for students in grades 2-8. Many of the books include online quizzes, lists of vocabulary words, and discussion questions. Some also have related writing activities and online puzzles. Students can write book reviews and rate each book. Teachers can search lists of books by genre, topic, author, and grade level, and there are also lists of award-winners. There are ready-to-use book menus for students that allow students and teachers to customize independent reading choices.
Additionally, the website includes writing prompts, sentences to edit (DOL), writing contests, vocabulary quizzes, and math problems. Students can take quizzes and submit answers and earn spots in the online Hall of Fame for each category.
There are some other goodies, too--resources for independent study projects, strategies for differentiation, and a few logic activities.
It's free, there are no ads, and no registration is required. I hope it is helpful to you!
I just wanted to share my passion for the past year and a half. It's entirely free for all. I cover almost all K-12 math skills. Directly aligned to the core math curriculum.
My name is Kayla Tarantino and I’m an English student at Southern Connecticut State University. I’m writing to you about a project that I have been working on in an English class focused on public writing. I hope that you will be interested in learning more about what I’m doing and how you can help!
My goals for this project are to collaborate with educators in the New Haven area and to get student involvement on the blog that I have created. The blog is called Poetry For Your Cause and is on its way to becoming a community of young poets submitting their writing about what matters to them. In a world where there are so many technological advancements being made, I want to put student’s voices out there and grow a large following. Internet publication is surprisingly easy, yet most students do not utilize it towards the greater good. I hope to give them an outlet other than Twitter or Facebook for their thoughts and concerns about local, world and personal issues.
What I am asking of you is to share with your students what I am doing. The more involvement I get, the more I can grow and the larger reach student work will have. This is not a form of shameless self promotion I simply wish to get students excited about writing in constructive ways. I have a flyer that you can feel free to hand out to your class-- email me if you would like a copy.
Visit Poetry For Your Cause to learn more. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at [email removed]
Thank you so much for your time,

I just a graduate level class where I learned about HTML for the first time! It was hard at first, but once I started making some web pages, I started to get really good at coding! I even learned how to add CSS code to my website. I am working with some fifth graders for an after school club at a middle school. I teach them different things about technology. This would be an excellent website for me to use with these students. The sample video lesson was very easy to follow. It will be exciting once this site finally launches and all the video lessons are posted. Thank you for sharing!
