Hi- I am a long-term sub @ a transfer high school in NYC. The principal wants me to use this software, which I am unfamiliar with to teach Geometry. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks, nr
We've developed a suite of apps for collaborative learning in the classroom, using a unique three-way view which personalizes the learning experience.
1. Teachers can share resources and add discussion questions to slides. Alternatively, you can launch a question straightaway without any preparation.
2. Students respond using their personal devices. Teachers can provide feedback from their own device, which is displayed to each student.
3. The student responses are also displayed anonymously on the whiteboard - encouraging them to contribute, without the worry/embarrassment if they get the answer wrong. Students can build on each other's responses, facilitating collaborative learning.
Let us know what you think and thanks in advance! It's free to join.
Quickfire – enhances real time question and answer sessions. I see this as a great tool for introducing a topic and probing for prior knowledge, as well as follow up after a topic has been taught in open ended quiz form. Discuss – encourages students to share ideas with each other.
Team up – provides a collaborative learning platform for students to jointly make a simple presentation with a variety of different media tools, directly from one ‘team iPad’ that acts as a remote control for the team project as it is projected for the class to see on a large communal screen.
I think these apps are great. I have been searching for something exactly like this for a long time: a simple platform that will allow for a multitude of levels and uses.
I like that in Quickfire the teacher can review student work before posting them, and that when posted, they’re anonymous responses unless the teacher hovers a cursor over the work.
Team up seems like a really great quick and easy tool for use in a double block period or a short time presentation tool. I can see that this tool could be really useful for things like giving each small group an individual but related topic: separate seasons for research, separate global events, separate animals, separate climates etc. These could then be compared and used as starting points for future discussions. I think that a Team up presentation could end with a question, where every student could use Discuss to try to answer, or a pop quiz in Quickfire to check for understanding.
I can’t wait to have a classroom of my own, and some devices, to try these out!

Now that Micrograde is gone, I am looking for college grading software that keeps track of and prints student information, grades and attendance. I need print-outs of my rosters with student phone and email, attendance, grade book with assignments, and individualized student summaries. Anyone know of an alternative to Micrograde?

The standalone version of Micrograde 6.1.3H68 works under Windows 10 (except for the email function). With 80 students, it doesn't take long to print the student records to disk and email them out to students. None of the available grading programs works better (including Blackboard).

We use this product in our network (Robert Blake Science College). It's a fantastic software, it does what it says it does, works well, and it's stable. We did use Netop for several years and were very disappointed with it's performance. I would definitelly recommend you using this software. Try it for a month and you'll definitelly keep it.
