Our district will be adopting Descubre next year. I am looking for online groups that specialize in using the Descubre textbook series. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Daniel, Let me know if you do find a group. I use Descubre also and would love to be a part of any support group. I like the way the vocabulary is arranged, but think there is too much, too fast. I will be working on how to thin out some of that and use more CI strategies with it. I think you have to look at the chapter as a whole and start working on the structures at the end of the chapter from the beginning. That's at least part of how I intend to modify it for next year.
Our district adopted Descubre last year and it has been a little challenging. Previously we had Avancemos and there is a definite gap between the two, so we moved cautiously trying to bridge that gap the first year. We structured our pacing to cover Descubre's content cover to cover, but by the end of the first quarter we realized it was not going to happen, especially while trying to address the gap - so we modified our pacing. To bridge the gap, I have modify some of the lessons to fit the needs of all students and it has been very successful. I will say that I love the amount of resources that are available. We all love the on-line homework component. It grades it for you and you can download the grades in Excel. Good luck to you and your program. If you need anything, please let me know. ofelia.hampton@stjohns.k12.fl.us

Does anyone use old National Spanish Exams as Pre and Post tests? I started last year, as our new evaluation model requires a way to show growth over the course of the year. I have them take the previous year's test (online, for free)at the very beginning of the year for their level, then again at the end, so we can compare scores.
Does anyone know how much growth is expected? Thanks!

This is only our second year using it and we're still trying to establish norms per level and what point values are statistically significant (ugh), but it's been pretty decent as far as standardized data gathering.

Does anyone know of good Spanish teacher resource books (where I can order Spanish teaching supplies)? I know of Teacher's Discovery, but would like additional ones if you know of any. Thanks!
