I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here or not, but I just wanted to let people know that there is a free, editable WL Teacher Lesson Plan Template available on La Profesora Frida's blog. :D

fellow WL teachers, Was wondering if your county opted out of doing ASW's or not. Thoughts about their validity? What happens if you do not meet growth for 3 years? Are they going to go away on their own? Thanks.

Please remember that this is site is used by all states and each state has its own Alphabet Soup Shorthand. I Googled your "Ncdpi" to discover that you were in North Carolina. My state, Indiana, has totally different abbreviations. Please spell out all abbreviations. The whole phrase is much easier to understand and we may be able to answer if we can understand the question!
AngelicaI think ASW is a North Carolina thing, I teach in NC and I am trying to figure out the whole process and its validity....very frustrating with the whole thing.
Hola! Has anyone done a Socratic Method seminar in your Spanish language class? My school is doing a big push to implement these in the classroom, and I am trying to brainstorm units/topics that would benefit from this method?
My daughter is a college Spanish major looking for a Spanish language immersion program next summer (2016.) Has anyone attended a program they would recommend? Ideally, it would be two to four weeks long and in a safe country. I appreciate any feedback you might share.
I would like to take a summer Spanish immersion program in South America somewhere to freshen my Spanish. Has anyone attended one in the last few years that you would recommend? Thanks.
Our district has randomly assigned each high school site to pilot 3 different publishers at three different levels. For example, Pearson with Realidades Level 1 for Spanish 1, HMH with ¡Avancemos! Level 2 for Spanish 2, and Vista with Descubre Level 3 for Spanish 3. Another high school would have a different combination of texts for each three levels.
Anyhow, I am piloting Realidades Level 1 in my two sections of public high school Spanish 1 next term (we are on a 4x4 block, with 90-minute classes). Any suggestions on how to wade through the material? How valuable will the online resources be? Our district is digital and I want to be digital with the textbook. (I will only have 1 class set of books, which I will keep in the classroom and will give for individual use only during class time for those students having technical issues.) How far should I expect to get during the term? (I will hypothetically have up to 90 instructional days total with 90 minutes of instruction per day.)
I have been "using" Realidades 1 and 2 for the past four years. It was NOT what I picked; I inherited it and was a bit offish at first. But, I have found it to be one of the better of the five different texts that I have used over my 20+ years of teaching. The supplemental supplies are REALLY rather good and the tech. support is good. I DO like the fact that you can take your students to the site with a MAC-BOOK program, but watch out for the students doing the exercises in a "fasttrack" manner. They have figured out how to avoid actually doing the work by typing in random answers and then hitting the results button to GET the correct answers. I do the work WITH them.
Sorry for the sidetracking...it is a good series overall, and i would reorder it if asked. The videos are a little silly, but they target the lesson vocabulary nicely. The songs and exercises are good too.
Do you use spanish apps in the classroom and if you do can you please recommend a few. How do you use them and for what specific areas? Do you project the apps with the projector.
1. Duolingo is a good spanish practice app, it does not teach anything just for practice on each student's level. there is a classroom option where you can track each students and assign work. Plus it's FREE! 2. Quizlet is great for studying vocabulary and grammar. You can also track your students for a fee. 3. Google Classroom is a good way to go digital in your class room with homework and assignments. 4. Nearpod is great for in class activities and interaction with the entire class. You can ask a question and get written answers in real time! And it's FREE
