I have a native speaker from Mexico who insists that she was taught (in Mexico) 3rd person singular (él, ella, usted) form is trai instead of trae.

I have never seen this form so she asked me if I could ask anyone from Mexico and I told her I would post the question. Comments? Thanks
kakm This is typical in spoken Spanish. The unstressed [e] in combination with [a] is reduced to [i]. Another example is the verb ‘pelearse’. Just this past week on a vocabulary test in my Spanish 2 classes, several ‘native’ speakers spelled the word as ‘peliarse’, reflecting the way they hear it spoken.
