I was hoping that somebody can help this new teacher. This is my first year teaching and I have to present saber vs. conocer to my Spanish 1 while being observed. Any ideas of starting the lesson? suggestions???

James in Belgium Here is a grammatical approach that differentiates the use of the two verbs of "to know". It is very simple.

One will use saber when the sentence has a second verb. One will use conocer when the sentence has only one verb and that verb is "conocer".

MaestraJulia I tell students this simple phrases: We use conocer with things you can C, (like see) people and places. I give a longer explanations (these are things you can be familia with) but that's my quick reminder phrase.
