I'm looking for a good novel or two for my Spanish 4 class. When I taught with smaller class I had them read Esperanza Renance y Alquimista. I'm not sure with bigger groups (24) I want to do that. We've read Pepita before, although it can be very difficult. I saw this was on the Gutenberg site (with no extra dictionary help of course.) Has anyone found any good free books on there in Spanish. We're not supposed to have the students purchase anymore from what I hear.
Julieta I don't know if you can find it for free, but some of my students liked "Sin noticias de Gurb" by Eduardo Mendoza. An alien arrives in Barcelona and he has to fit in. It's pretty funny. Two or three slightly racy parts so pre-read it first.

Granjero If you're looking for an easily broken-down classical work, Platero Y Yo is on there as well.

Cheers, Granjero
