China Farm is a 2 player game (vs bots or vs other humans) which helps players to learn Mandarin Chinese. The game is meant to be something which supplements symbol/vocab learning without being boring. It's also meant to at least be somewhat fun, even if you have no interest in learning Chinese.
The objective of the game is to have more gold than the other player by the end of the round. You do this by answering flash-card questions faster than the other player, and by using magic abilities.
Before playing, you have a chance to review vocab at your own pace.
Please try out the game out and let me know what you think. The demo version has a few free lessons, so you can play around and learn some Chinese, even if you have no interest in paying :D
Why not look into the many programs that are offered by AFS- USA if you wish to study abroad? There are opportunities for short and long term programs, including gap year. Go to [link removed].
AFS-USA has been sending students and teachers on programs for well over 60 years and currently is the leading in the world. It is a multicultural, international, not-for-profit organization. Volunteers throughout the world make AFS the best internationally for its support to its participants.
As a professional counselor for many years, I worked with many programs and discovered for myself that AFS is the best. I was an AFS Global Educator to Thailand, have served in almost every capacity on the local AFS team and our family has hosted ten (10) AFSers.
I have been teaching for many years in USA-public school setting. Looking for a challenge. Been to Bangkok and would love to do a summer there at first -could be anything working with students, academics, leisure, orphanages....has anyone had any experiences to share or could recommend agencies I should speak with? Thanx!

I would also have a heart to heart with the gir...See MoreI agree with the earlier post about making sure that you have full medical information, but I would say it should be from her OB/Gyn, not the school nurse. Make sure about any meds, such as folic acid and prenatal vitamins. Also, any emergency contact info - although this should be standard.
I would also have a heart to heart with the girl and her parents and make sure where they sit with things. Do the other students know? Does she want them to? Is there any need for them to know in case an issue arises?
The only other significant thing should be related to your activities. If you are going to a hot springs, doctors generally have you limit time spent in a hot tub, etc.
Other than that, having been pregnant myself three times and having done all my normal activities up until I gave birth (in one case working until 25 minutes before I delivered), pregnancy itself should not be a crisis unless there is something unusual.
Consider this a gift that you are helping give to a young woman who probably has no idea how much her world is about to change. And maybe the trip will help inspire her to not limit her an her baby's future.
I am the Academic Director of Ciudad Vieja Spanish Academy based in Guatemala. We offer an intensive one on one Spanish Immersion Program for High School and College students. We alternate our classes with visitations to different touristic places while practicing your Spanish skills. We also can help you to book your flight to Guatemala. Our pricing is very reasonable for a great experience abroad.
If anyone has an NETC travel voucher that can be used in 2011, another teacher and I are going in June and would love to buy a discounted voucher. Please respond ASAP. Thanks.
