If all the world is a star, certainly women must be prepared to join the cast. Women must join and then star in life's productions. In the past, a woman,s place was in the home or somewhere in the shadow of an omnipotent male-figure. However, today, a woman,s visibility is needed, encourages, and applauded in many arenas. Women today are seen and heard. As women prepare to take their places on state in this new millennium, one vehicle which launches the female "satellite" is the Women,s Campaign School at Yale University. And if leadership skills are needed, why not learn from exemplary professionals: a cadre of dynamic individuals who have already forged the paths to council chambers, senate floors, and boards rooms nationwide. These women are the role models of excellence. They are needed as trainees are immersed in the language and style of empower- ment. The Women's Campaign School, unlike the charm schools and finishing schools of the 18th Century, provides the nuts and bolts of campaign life that enable women to take their well deserved place center-stage. The first winter Olympic Games opened in Chamonix, France, in 1924. It began the process of popularizing winter sports for ordinary people; prior to then, only very rich people (or those who lived in the mountains) skied. Do you like or participate in a winter sport, or would you like to learn one? Which one? Why that one? (If you are not interested in winter sports, tell why you feel as you do.)
