Anyone interested in traveling on the Trans-Mongolian railroad from St. Petersburg Russia through Beijing this summer. The trip can be found on GEEO (Global Exploration for Educators Organization). I have traveled with GEEO in the past and it is well organized - this is the first year they are going to Russia!

I've traveled all of Europe (for 2 summers) and Alaska (for the past 2 summers). I have heard about the gadventures from someone I met in Alaska last summer.

The prices between a GEEO trip and planning your own trip should be pretty similar. Keep in mind with GEEO: -By traveling with 15 other teachers from around the country you are splitting a lot of costs. -All of your transportation is taken care of so you don't have to be taking lot's of expensive taxis/car rentals in order to get off the beaten track. -Our tour operator G Adventures books hotel rooms in bulk so they get a negotiated rate that is much less expensive then you could get on your own. -You don't have to waste time figuring out how to get from one city to to the next city and find a hotel when you get there. -You have a guide with you the entire time, making the trip go smoothly and teaching you about the country along the way. -Because GEEO is a non-profit these trips are discounted an extra 5-10% below G Adventure's prices. G Adventures is already one of the price leaders in the travel industry so you are getting one of their trips that has been discounted even further. -The trip is customized for educators so you visit a few schools, meet with educators and get curriculum materials from GEEO to help share the experience with your students when you get back to your classroom. You also earn professional development credit and have the opportunity to get Graduate credit.
My family(2 daughters 13&16) are renting a house in Halewia this June and am wondering what people like to do? Both my wife would like to run on the beach. Thanks ahead of time. We live in Somoma Ca if anybody is visiting the area.

I have been and will be going again this summer on this great experience. You get to live aboard a real nice boat, and visit with the real people of Mexico in the Sea of Cortez. This is a cheap and safe way to see how life goes on in this beautiful country, yet have fun too. Join us.
American Leadership is an NETC summer program that strives to offer the highest quality study abroad experience for high school students. Our mission is to provide opportunities for cross-cultural understanding, historical awareness, foreign language exposure and personal growth.
Ultimately, the program offers an exceptional preparation for college and insight into future career interests for students (we also operate in partnership with the Princeton Review).
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
American Leadership is seeking experienced teachers, counselors, coaches, and school/community leaders around the country to work with our annual summer programs to Europe, China, Peru and/or Australia. The role of the "Teacher Counselor" is to encourage student applications to the program throughout the year in his or her community, as well as to facilitate pre-departure trip orientation and preparation information. Teacher Counselors will then chaperone students during the group's two weeks abroad, and later complete a post-trip evaluation for future program improvements.

I am hoping to plan a trip to NYC for my high schoolers. We ususally go to Europe so I am unfamiliar with reputable student travel companies for travel within the US. Does anyone recommend a company for travel to NYC? Thanks for your help.

Lest reviewers think Shrewsbury High School was the only victim of Mariden USA's unscrupulous business practices, I received this correspondence today from Maud Birney, a French teacher who works in Cecil County, Maryland.
"My name is Maud Birney. I teach French in a small high school in Cecil County Maryland. I am emailing regarding the comments you made in diverse web venues regarding Mariden USA.
I am also a very dissatisfied and heart broken costumer of Mariden Usa. We were supposed to leave on June 27 and they announced me today that they were not able to secure airplane seats for our group on this date...
Two weeks before the trip, they are moving the dates of the trip and offering us a similar trip on July 11. Some of the parents cannot travel during these dates and we have been offered callously a voucher for next year trip.
You seemed on your blog as irate as I am right now and I was hoping you could give me some advice on how to go about this situation."
Again, I urge extreme caution when considering travel with Mariden USA.
