Australian teacher looking to teach in CA or WA or OR

Hi. I am a trained visual arts teacher with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Hons first class, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Fine Arts first class. I currently work in a secondary school (years 7-12) and am interested in potentially moving to California or Washington State or Oregon to extend and continue my teaching practice.

I have 4 years experience in one of Sydney's best private schools. I understand that each state certifies differently but wondered if anyone had experience with either (or all 3) states and the process that one might begin with. I have heard that it may be easier to get a job in the private sector considering my experience and background and their arts programs.

As far as I can figure it looks as though you pay a third party company to evaluate your credentials and then apply directly to schools for work as jobs come up. It also looks like there is an E3 visa which Australians can apply for once they have an offer of employment.
