Transforming Assessment webinar Wednesday, 3 October 2012: "Developing spaces for e-assessment: cases from the University of Bradford" Presenter: John Dermo (University of Bradford, UK)
This webinar will examine the University of Bradford's innovative 130-seat e-assessment facilities, which use thin client technology and virtual desktops to present secure e-assessments in a flexible learning environment. Whilst these e-assessment facilities are used for invigilated summative e-exams for a few weeks a year, the aim was to create a more flexible space which could also be used for genuine formative e-assessment all year round. This session will also look at some of the interesting and innovative ways in which these facilities are being used by instructors, and will discuss a series of cases from the University of Bradford. These include assessing higher order cognitive skills, delivering more authentic assessment tasks, engaging students in collaborative forms of assessment, and exploring ways in which generic, automated feedback can be delivered to large cohorts of students. Audience participation and the sharing of experiences is encouraged.

While I await a classroom teaching job, I'm tutoring students with LD. I really want a Google Nexus 7, but wonder if I will use an iPad with my students more than a N7. It seems like in the schools I go to all I see are iPads. Anyone have any thoughts?
Call to secondary or post secondary educators: I need an educator who uses Google Forms as an assessment tool in the classroom. We need someone to Skype into a PD or Gmail video chat with a group of 25 other educators for 30 mins during our professional development activity, next Thursday Jan 10th between 4-6 pm CST for $50. We only need 30 minutes of your expert time to share what you do with Google Forms.
Email me if you or someone you know may be interested. [email removed].
