disney cathy Hi Bob, I'm retired now but when I was teaching K the only test I had to give was that Dibbles Reading Test and it was just a big pain. It really didn't help because I knew ahead of time what kids would fly through it and the ones who would struggle. Oh there were surprises sometime. I had to give this test three times a year. Tallytchr administer a test called FAIR three times a year (actually....all grades must do this but at K it must be especially hard).

This test requires more time than Dibbles. I'm not sure how good the info is but as a second grade teacher...I don't find it valuable.

DeAnn I teach K in Arizona. Our report card is a standards based report card. It lists the major standards for reading and math. The children are graded with P for proficient, D for developing and E for emergent. Ashwaq testing is a good way for students to learn and really remember what they took in classes but it's really exhausting for teachers because of making the tests and grading the students after correcting piles of papaers everyday , really it's a torture for teachers.
