Hi I was wondering if anyone has some ideas on Homework folders. I will be teaching 3rd grade and need a few ideas on how to keep track of folders I will have abpout 22 in my class so if anyone has some ideas I would appreciate it:)
I have two classes of about 18 students in each. I would love to get have a Pen-Pal exchange with a class of 36 or two classes of 18. I am located in Miami, Florida. I would love to do this with a school where the seasons change. Please email me directly at rose-[email removed]

I interviewed for a third grade teaching position this morning. I have a good feeling about it. I will be teaching writing and English and would definitely be interested in a pen pal exchange. We are from Ohio, and the seasons change here!! I saw you had a response from a teacher in Arizona. Maybe we could all work together and really make it interesting. I believe I will have around 45 students. Hope to hear from you soon. [email removed]
In third grade I have student of the week and am looking for some perks to go with it. I already have them filling out a poster that is all about them, no spelling test for the week and skipping one homework assignment, I looking for one more thing. any suggestions?

I’m an elementary teacher who has developed a fun but effective math/music program for students grades 3-6. The audio and video series are aligned to State and Common Core Standards and really motivates students to learn math and equips them with the foundation to excel on Standardized TESTS.
Does anyone know where I can buy a set of 3rd grade math vocabulary cards for my math word wall that match the vocab. on the Common Core? I have found some freebies online but they don't have the vocab I need. Wanted to ask as I would rather pay than spend the whole day making them.

Just got these last night and they are well worth it. Also come with a math vocabulary book for each student which I think will really help my kids with their math writing.
Students not doing assigned class work in school have more homework. All assignments given are either do all the evens or do al of the odds. Students who "play" during guided practice have to do both for homework along with finishing the page from class---if htey fail to do this--I call the parent. I do not accept late assignments--students receive a zero if they failto turn assignments in on time unless they made an attempt and "don't get it" or if they are returning from an absence.
Students needing tissue signal me by putting their hand over theri nose--I take the Kleenex to them. If kids fake blowing their nose they get no more Kleenex.
Kids are always going to test you--you need to take control of these situations. Right now students are controlling you.
Tissues :) I used to keep my trash ...See MoreKids can come to my class right away and ask to go to the bathroom and they drop their backpacks. I let them go during our 1 hour class only in emergency. I have a drinking fountain in my room, but don't let them use it. I tell them to bring a water bottle! Then they can take a drink whenever they want!
Tissues :) I used to keep my trash cans by the door until I realized that kids who were avoiding work would go to blow their nose and look out the door (classrooms open to outside). So now I keep my trash cans up front and magically, nobody does that anymore :) I can identify right away the kids that do this to get out of work and I just don't let them get up. I even tell them that they are avoiding work and I am onto them. That helps too!
Late work, I only accept up to 2 days late and take off 20% per day late.
