I work in a larger district with 12 elementary schools. Our district allows school choice. I'm trying to decide if I should send my daughter to her home school or school choice her to my school. Any advice? I only have until the end of the month to decide.

Where I teach faculty children can attend the school their parent works at even if they are out of district. I know it is that way at the school my own daughter goes to too in the district we live in. We DID do School Choice 2 years ago when my oldest started Kindergarten. We wanted her to go to a better elementary school and plus we had researched schools when we were moving to this area and hadn't researched the one we ended up being zoned for. This coming year I need to try to get my other daughter who will be starting K in the same school as the older one- hoping that will happen since otherwise we will have 2 different schools to keep up with and also my own school that i teach at. How old is your daughter? If she is young (K or 1st) I would suggest moving her to your school but if she is older I would keep her at her own since she already has established friends. I am hoping to get a job closer to home soon and if I do I probably wouldn't move my older daughter (going into 3rd next year) to my school but would have my K one attend there. It just depends on your preference.

There is a book called What Cows do When No One is Looking. I need suggestions for what the kids could write for their book.... What __________ do When No One is Looking.
I haven't read the book but here are some ideas: Butterflies, Grasshoppers, Goats, Turtles, Spiders, Frogs, Eagles, Fireflies, Ladybugs, Whales, Goldfish, Parrots, Squirrels, Raccoons, etc. Is this what you wanted?

I have the opportunity to purchase ONE ipod touch for classroom use. How are ways that that it can be used in the classroom? Thank you, in advance, for your responses.
catesteGreat list! thanks Another resource I use a lot is Bookwizard. You search by reading level, grade level, interest, topic and get a list of books you can then turn into your own list. I let my 3rd graders use it to find books in the school library and at home. [link removed]

Hi does anyone send home a newsletter to parents that includes a calendar with daily objectives or skills for each subject? Just something I have been thinking about doing to help connect more with my students' parents. Let me know how it is working for you and any pointers that has helped you. Thanks for your time Jana:)
dan4thgrDon't approach her. If she is nasty in front of others just say what a beautiful day you are having, and move on. In private just yawn in her face and move on
