Dumb question. I have been teaching 6th grade for 9 years and I think I am ready for a change. I always envisioned myself teaching lower grades (I have taught 4th and Kindergarten), but the opportunity for a permanent job was in 6th grade and I have been there and been relatively happy for 9 years. We have moved to more departmentalization and I am spending less time with my 6th graders and more time with middle school students. I like feeling connected to my students and I don't feel as connected to them as when I had them more hours in the day. Any advice from grade switchers. I am more worried about the unknowns, but the fact that I have been successful in 6th grade tells me I would be able to do well in 3rd grade. I think for me it has been more about being comfortable, but I also think I am ready for a change of pace. Thanks for any advice!!!!
