In observance of the upcoming Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss birthday) on March 2, and Earth Day April 22, we'll be giving away books from my personal bookshelf to some lucky members of those two mailring groups.
To be in on the fun you'll have to be a member of the mailring list where I'll post the details. So, use the link below or click on "Mailrings" at the top of any Teachers.Net page, and subscribe now!

Don't think anyone else mentioned if you are reading a picture book, you can lay it under Elmo and all can see the book, colors, words and all, on the big white screen at the front of the room. No more pacing back and forth trying to give everyone the opportunity to see the illustrations. Everyone can read with you, if that is what you want them to do. diane5

I am getting ready to teach my 3rd grade students when to use informal (slang, colloquialisms) and formal language. Does anyone have any engaging activities that they have used in the past? Thank you in advanced!
I'm planning a unit of study for 4th grade around the question "What is funny?" We're going to be exploring what it is we find funny about particular texts and why that is. Does anyone have suggestions on some get books to use?
