-she feels you are not qualified to teach her ese student - you don't collaborate enough (even though you have sent her home your quarterly curriculum calendar, an extra set of classroom books, and write a note in her child's planner everyday on what we worked on) - you are not following her child's IEP -she has said twice to me now she wants a different teacher -questions your teaching practice and tells you what should be happening (letting her daughter be in all 3 reading groups so she gets triple dosed), as well as calling "her" for to get ideas for lesson plans

Go to your principal - why the parent hasn't gone to request another teacher baffles me but you can go and tell the principal. My principal Refused to let me pass off a student mid year though I thought it was in everybody's best interest.
Some parents are harder than others - ever go to a children's hospital with Really Sick kids and here how some parents scream at the nurses or at a doctor? The thing is parents can switch doctors or hospitals and they can't easily switch their schools. Teachers aren't the only people who get yelled at and if we had more school choice, we'd get yelled at less.
The bottom line of this is likely that the kid is still doing poorly in school - I've never seen the parent yet who has a child struggling in school who's just fine and dandy with that. We'll have this but you have a parent who's more outspoken than most of them.
And you'll have it all year long unless you can get the kid switched or - if you can find some way the kid can be more successful in school even if it's a little bit. Parents without hope can behave in hopeless ways. > Is this something you would go to the union for? I am wondering how many schools (elementary through high school) are requiring general ed teachers to teach classes in family life and sexuality education? What type of training is required? Thanks
Has anyone read this? I love it - hilarious, similar to Wong's book, but more specific. Does anyone use the preferred activity time? What activities do you use, and how do you schedule them - at the end of each period, day, etc.? Thanks!
Can someone tell me the purpose of teaching functions and graphing the functions in 4th grade? It's in our math book, but for the life of me, I don't know the purpose.
Years ago, I placed a certain colored transparency over workbook page in a teacher's edition so that the worksheet answers didn't xerox. I can't remember what color I used. Has anyone done this before?

I make a huge chart comparing all the things we can think of: Characters, setting, Problem, solution, of course. Coes it have old people? Young People? Family? Animals? Magic? Fiction or NF? Autobiographical? and so on.
If you read The Bee Tree, try to read Thank You, Mr. Faulker. Compare the two.
In a workshop, we did a reader's theater poem sort of, using all the sounds in The Bee Tree.
For Some Birthday, ask students to imagine when everyone forgot their birthday. What if ______ happened on that day? Would it be a good birthday?
